DJ STEVE K Ireland's Hottest DJ Billy's Great DJ friend in Ireland's Capitol City: Dublin The most 'interesting' dude you will EVER meet in Ireland! Walkie Talkies and CB radios is where it all started for me. It was 1984 when a friend of mine Warren and myself started playing around with a couple of walkie talkies which we bought from some money saved during that Summer. We talked into them and had a laugh pretending we were some kind of FBI Agents. It wasn't long before I started playing songs into the Walkie Talkie and talking over them or should I say introducing them. That was the start of my D.J. career. Warren was 14 and very technical at such a young age. We decided to put a radio station of our own together. It was pretty cool but only broadcasted a few hundred feet from his house. However things came to an end pretty soon as the station started interfering with televisions in the neighbourhood! From that point I realised that I wanted to work in radio - the music, the fun. It was just a buzz. It was 1988 when I got my first DJ job in a community radio station in Tallaght. It was located in an old cottage in Tallaght Village which is all bricked up now but stilll stands beside a bicycle shop. Next I moved to Radio Dublin - it was a love song station but I didn't last too long as I got sacked for breaking the format. Next came Sunset Radio in Sandyford broadcasting from a back garden shed. What a great station that was! Then it was on to Pulse FM, another garden shed but this time in Clontarf. The station was mainly Top 40 and dance music, which I prefer. I left Pulse and moved to Kiss FM until 1994. At this point I got a chance to go to America, where I worked for 3 country radio stations in Pittsburgh. I returned here to work in Kiss FM until it closed down. Then I moved to Hot107 which had a name change to Mix106. Moved again then to present the Power FM evening show in Southeast Radio in Wexford. After a couple of months full-time there it was time to join the Big Boys in FM104. I arrived in 1998 to present the Funny Farm and in October of 1999 I moved to Drivetime which is where you will find me now! Oh yeah - my friend Warren now lives in Sydney, Australia and work is in a recording studio! WRITE TO DJ STEVE K!
